  INTERMOLECULAR FORCES :

  • Intermolecular forces play and important role in chemistry.
  • They are attractions and repulsions felt between atoms and molecules.
  • They are different depending on the chemical bond.
  • When you break a chemical bond, you obtain a new material that reacts differently with other chemicals.
  • When an intermolecular attraction is broken, the chemical formula and chemical reactivity don't change.
  • Intermolecular forces can determine how quickly a chemical reaction occurs , or if it can even occur.
  • These forces determine whether a material will be a liquid, a solid, or a gas at given temperatures.
